Here is a further invitation to “Embrace Inner Transformation!”
Set Free All the Prisoners in Your Heart
Who are you still holding prisoner through clinging to grievances about them…
Your parents or your siblings? Your spouse or romantic partner? Your kids?
Big corporations? Our government’s leaders? The perpetrators of 9/11/01?
Yourself?!
Here is what A Course In Miracles claims forgiveness offers:
Forgiveness Offers Everything I Want
“What could you want forgiveness cannot give? Do you want peace? Forgiveness offers it. Do you want happiness, a quiet mind, a certainty of purpose, and a sense of worth and beauty that transcends the world? Do you want care and safety, and the warmth of sure protection always? Do you want a quietness that cannot be disturbed, a gentleness that never can be hurt, a deep, abiding comfort, and a rest so perfect it can never be upset?
All this forgiveness offers you, and more. It sparkles on your eyes as you awake, and gives you joy with which to meet the day. It soothes your forehead while you sleep, and rests upon your eyelids so you see no dreams of fear and evil, malice and attack. And when you wake again, it offers you another day of happiness and peace. All this forgiveness offers you, and more…
…What would you want forgiveness cannot give? What gifts but these are worthy to be sought? What fancied value, trivial effect or transient promise, never to be kept, can hold more hope than what forgiveness brings?
Why would you seek an answer other than the answer that will answer everything? Here is the perfect answer…Changelessly it stands before you like an open door, with warmth and welcome calling from beyond the doorway, bidding you to enter in and make yourself at home, where you belong.
Here is the answer! Would you stand outside while all of Heaven waits for you within? Forgive and be forgiven.”
Your invitation to inner transformation:
1) Make a list of all the individual people, as well as the corporate entities and governmental institutions, that you are holding prisoner in your heart – in particular, those whom you hold responsible for the events of 9/11/01.
2) Contemplate how they have hurt or offended you and others.
3) Decide which prisoners of your heart you are ready to set free.
4) Send them on their way with as much Love and Forgiveness as you can muster.
5) Enjoy the warmth and welcome that coming home to forgiveness offers!
6) Repeat step one, this time contemplating the question “Could I in some part also be responsible for what occurred between us?” Where the answer you come to is “Yes”, apply steps 2-5, noticing the degree to which you are able to take responsibility for your experience, as well as the degree to which you are able and willing to forgive yourself.
I think the poster above needs a third line that adds “Until you join with others to work for Truth and Justice.”
If you are already on the world wide transformation team, “Thank-you for your work and your commitment!” If all this is quite new to you, this is your invitation to roll up your sleeves, find your allies and add both meaning and fun to your life, as we work together to bring Truth to the light of day and Healing to this wounded world of ours.
